GħKNK Mellieħa Enhances Habitat Restoration by Planting Over 300 Indigenous Trees

Over the past decade, the GħKNK Mellieħa and GħKNK Miżieb sub-committees have been dedicated to environmental conservation through the planting of thousands of indigenous trees. Their commitment to habitat restoration continued this past weekend, with GħKNK Mellieħa volunteers planting over 300 indigenous trees, complete with an irrigation system, in Aħrax.

These efforts also involved the removal of invasive Acacia species, making way for native flora to thrive. Some of the trees were supplied by Ambjent Malta, and we extend our gratitude for their collaboration in this important initiative.

This project not only enhances biodiversity but also ensures that these open spaces remain rich in native ecosystems for future generations to enjoy. The trees will be closely monitored and cared for by our own members, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to Malta’s natural environment.
